This morning will officially kick off the inaugural Charger Invitational, formerly known as the Tiger Invitational as Iowa high school wrestling teams look to end off their 2016-2017 seasons.
For ACGC they welcome in a 21 team field that includes the likes of fellow Guthrie County rivals Panorama and West Central Valley while also bringing back 4 of the top four teams including returning champion Clarion-Goldfield-Dows. Under the Guthrie County name a year prior, the Chargers earned a 7th place finish and wielded three top three finishers, all of which have returned this season in Blaine Beeler (106 lbs-3rd place), Logan Scheuermann (138 lbs-3rd place), and Cade Suhr (220 lbs-earned 3rd place).
This season ACGC enters with a very solid seasons worth of Invitational action. Their best Invitational finish was a 3rd place finish at the Coach Riley Invite while the Chargers also earned a 4th place finish at the Crusader Invitational, an 8th place finish at the Riverside Invitational, and a 12th place finish at the John J Henry Invite. The Chargers and the rest of the 21 team field will get an early jump on the day with an 8:00 am start time for the Charger Invitational.
