For the second straight season, with the recent release of the class 4A and 5A post season pairings, the ADM Lady Tiger basketball team commences the post season with a home match up. ADM’s home post season start will come against the normally perennial powerhouse Harlan set for Wednesday, February 15th at 7:00 pm.
This season has been the first in five seasons that the Lady Tigers have not taken on the Lady Cyclones in a regular season contest. It is however, the second time in the past 5 seasons that ADM has squared off against Harlan in the post season. The first meeting came in the 2014-2015 season where ADM fell to Harlan in their second post season match up as the Lady Cyclones would eventually go on to claim the class 4A title.
Both ADM and Harlan are not too far removed from successful seasons as both made splashes last season with ADM making it just one game shy of the big dance while Harlan did advance to the state tournament and fell in the first round to eventual champion Marion high school. This season also holds similarities between both squads, but not the way they would have liked. Both the Lady Tigers and the Lady Cyclones are having rather down seasons which currently witness Harlan with a 2-4 mark in the past 6 games while ADM stands with a 1-5 mark in that same time frame. Both have lost key players from last season and overall offensive production has been low with Harlan dropping from averaging 58.3 points per game at this time last year, to now averaging 49 points per contest. Likewise, the Lady Tiger offense after loosing Brianna Mueller and Molly Jacobsen have dropped from averaging 51.6 points per game through 18 games a year prior to now standing with an average of 45 points per contest.
Both squads will have some time to boost up their regular season record before then and for the Lady Tigers it starts tonight with a road trip to Carroll high school. There ADM will be in the hunt for their fourth consecutive two game sweep of Carroll and it will start with pregame coverage on K107.9 FM at 5:45 followed by game tip off at 6:00 pm from Carroll high school.
