The Dallas Center Police Department may not exist in a few months.

Police Chief Michelle Leonard is retiring from the force in April and the City is reviewing their options on how to move forward.

The two options being considered are hiring a new police chief and continuing the department or contracting with the Dallas County Sheriff’s office for law enforcement services.

All residents are encouraged to attend an open forum next week. It is a chance for the public to get more information on what each option would entail and share their thoughts and opinions.

It takes place Tuesday at 7pm at Memorial Hall.
