The Stuart Public Library’s annual Sweetheart Dance has changed it’s name and it’s focus in light of recent events. Sandy Pollard, longtime library director, passed away suddenly in early January and library staff have renamed the dance Sandy’s Sweetheart Dance in her honor.

Newly hired Library Director Lisa Sherman remembers Pollard for her love of the library and her love for the community of Stuart. She says Pollard always had a friendly smile for anyone who came into the library and worked tirelessly to expand opportunities and programs for the people she served.

Sandy’s Sweetheart Dance, presented by the Stuart Library Foundation, will be held Saturday, February 11 at the Saints Center for Culture and Arts in Stuart. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the Stuart Library or First State Bank. The doors will open at 6:00 p.m. Sherman says the current roster of musical talent for the event includes 23 live acts.
