JPRD Board 1_18The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Board recently approved their wish list to purchase exercise bikes from the Hess Fund.

Parks and Recreation Director Vicky Lautner says she is asking for seven Schwinn Sport bikes. The current exercise bikes are about seven years old from Power Lift and they don’t make replacement parts for them anymore and they don’t have anyone that can repair them. They are down to four of the seven functioning. So the Board applied for $10,843 to the Hess Fund to purchase the bikes. Lautner explains what the Hess Fund is.

“The Hess Fund was developed by Dorothy Hess. There’s a board that operates that money and we usually get like the interest. And usually it’s about $10,000 a year that we can use to update our equipment. And that’s what Dorothy Hess had wanted for the community center was to keep our equipment updated.”

Lautner adds that if their application is approved, then they will sell the seven bikes they have currently at the Greene County Community Center.
