It was the regular season finale for both West Central Valley boys and girls basketball teams last night as they would finish it off in style by honoring their seniors with senior night.

The Lady Wildcats fell in an overtime thriller 57-55 while the Wildcat boys were defeated by a 15 point margin in a 50-35 loss.

The Lady Wildcats honored their four senior players in Kristin Culp who through last night has accumulated a total of 293 points in her tenure on the varsity roster. She currently leads the team in rebounding while going on her second straight season leading the Lady Wildcats in both assists and steals. Fellow senior and current season scoring leader Jennifer Dudley was also honored as the senior ends her four year regular season varsity run with 661 points up through last nights game. Emily Franklin and Sadie McFarland were the other two senior Lady Wildcats honored, both of whom were very important pieces for West Central Valley this season notching 49 and 80 points respectively.

As for the game last night the Lady Wildcats certainly ended the regular season with a thrilling contest with some bonus basketball ending the fourth quarter on a 13-6 run to tie the game at the end of regulation. It was overtime where Earlham got the better of West Central Valley taking the win. The Lady Wildcats now end their regular season 9-13 overall with a 7-9 conference record.

The Wildcat boys were involved in senior night honoring their five senior players on the roster. The five seniors honored included scoring and rebounding leader Logan Pruitt, Knick Badker, along with Josh Reed, Cody Hansen, and Meet Patel. Pruitt leads the team with just over 11 points per game and rebounds with just over 5 per contest. Knick Badker has matched his points per game average from last season with just over 6 per contest.

In their contest last night, the Wildcat boys squad couldn’t seem to find their flow offensively as they would suffer their 4th straight loss to end the regular season with a 5-17 overall mark and a conference record of 4-14.

Next on the docket for both Wildcat squads will be the commencement of the post season. The Lady Wildcats will get the first crack at the postseason when they lay host to Ogden this Saturday in Stuart. The game will commence at 7:00 pm and the winner will then move onto face Interstate-35 on February 14th. The postseason future for the Wildcat boys team has them facing off against conference rival Panorama on Monday the 13th inside South Central Calhoun high school with game tip off set for 6:30 pm.
