The long awaited release of the class 3A and 4A high school basketball postseason pairings are close at hand and aim to be released later today. When the exact seeds are released, while the overall set up may look and feel the same, the work behind the selections has gone through some significant changes. The most significant change as established by the Iowa High School Athletic Association last summer, is unlike in past seasons, it will be the coaches who will determine seeding in their respective districts and substates.
Last night ADM head boys basketball coach Aaron Mager made his way to Boone to meet with the rest of the 7 coaches inside class 3A’s substate pod 8. Of the changes discussed, where historically the win-loss record through the first 15 games would determine seed position, now all games will be considered and it will be the coaches’ responsibility to seed teams.
Regardless of where the ADM basketball team finds themselves in the seedings, they will still be taking on quite the competitive field. Currently, Atlantic and Glenwood rest as the top two teams record wise at 14-5 followed by ADM and Harlan resting at 10-8. Carroll would look to be the next team up with a mark of 9-7 followed by Creston at 10-9, Dennison-Schleswig at 7-11, rounded out with Winterset at 5-14.
Again, the meetings last night determined the 8 seeds and the brackets will be released later today.
