Class 3A girls’ basketball regional tournament play in Region 3 starts tomorrow night for the Greene County Rams. Coach Dean Lyons’ team is 4-17 on the season and faces a 12-8 Kuemper Catholic team in Carroll at 7 p.m. Saturday on the Knights’ home floor. The winner moves on to the Feb. 15 regional semifinal in Pocahontas vs. 2016 State champion Pocahontas Area, or Clarion-Goldfield-Dows. A loss means the end of the season.
The Rams were without two starters, both post players, in their regular season finale, a 56-17 loss at Gilbert on Tuesday. Senior Kenna Marquardt is done for the season with a knee injury suffered on Jan. 27 in Jewell vs. South Hamilton, while junior Onica Delp missed the Gilbert game with what she described as a hyperextended hamstring. Coach Lyons said Delp is 50-50 for Saturday.
Coverage on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com begins at 6:30 p.m. with tip off at 7 p.m. Saturday.
