Greene County completed the Heart of Iowa boys’ basketball season with a 70-65 victory over PCM in Monroe. The victory capped an 8-0 road record in the conference and the Rams are 8-1 overall away from Jefferson with a road trip to Perry on Feb. 14 up next. Overall, Chris Nelson’s Rams are 14-6 and they finished 13-3 in league play. The Rams have won five of their last six games. KGRA and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com broadcast the game.

Senor Trey Tucker scored 28 points, sophomore Trey Hinote scored 14, and junior Wade Adcock added 12. The Rams went 10 of 19 on three-point shots and they made 27 of 54 attempts from the floor overall. Greene County was eight of 16 on three-point shots and turned the ball over just eight times.

PCM was 10 for 27 from three-point range and they shot 42% overall from the floor and 10 of 15 from the free throw line. The Mustangs had 11 turnovers and were led by junior Jackson Thomas with six three-point goals and 22 points. Sophomore Andrew Van Ryswyk added 18 points and sophomore Reed Worth had 12.

PCM led 21-18 after one quarter, but Greene County was up 35-31 at intermission. The Rams led by just one point early in the third quarter, then expanded the advantage to 13 points before the Mustangs made a run to close the gap to just four points at 68-64, but they could get no closer. PCM ended the regular season at 10-11 and 9-7 in the league. PCM lost seven of its last eight games.
