The Greene County High School show choir is competing at a couple of contests this month.

Director David Heupel says the Jazzatonics are at the Comet Sensation at North Polk today. Last year, the jazz choir earned first place honors in Class 3A and Heupel hopes to do that again. They will perform Birds and the Bees by Kerry Marsh; In My Life, a Beatles song arranged by Steve Zegree; and Just Goofin’ arranged by Rob Hyatt. Then the 16-member choir performs at a festival at Solon High School next weekend.

They are also seeking to qualify for a sixth consecutive time to the Iowa Vocal Jazz Championships, after submitting their audition video.

Jazzatonics received a division I-rating earlier this week when they hosted the Iowa High School Music Association’s State Jazz Festival.
