It’s officially round two of Iowa high school postseason wrestling today and for six Wildcat wrestlers, they aim to punch their tickets to the big dance in class 1A’s district 7 tournament in Underwood.

Quest Brown and Tye Joint were first place winners in sectional play for the Wildcats and they will start first as Quest Brown looks for his 31st win taking on Nolan Niesen of St. Albert/Council Bluffs. Tye Joint at 138 lbs will aim for his 36th win taking on Clarinda Academy’s Gabe Surles in his first match.

Cole Sackett (152 lbs) will start off against class 1A’s 10th ranked 152 lb wrestler in Luke Stortenbecker while Riley Algreen (182 lbs) will take on undefeated Sam Gregory of Treynor. The final two first round matches for West Central Valley will start with Carsen Schneller at 195 lbs matched up against 8 loss Elijah Finn from St. Albert/Council Bluffs. The final match up for the Wildcats will be Alex Wells (285 lbs) taking on Riversides Cody Maher.

The top two wrestlers from each weight class will move on to the state tournament next week and it all kicks off today with district play in Underwood beginning at noon.
