It was do or die time for the five ACGC Charger wrestlers seeking to punch their tickets to the state tournament.
When all was said and done, two Charger wrestlers came out as the top two wrestlers in their respective weight classes in the district 7 tournament in Underwoood on Saturday. The first was top ten ranked Logan Scheuermann with a first place finish in the 145 lb weight class and the other was Cade Suhr at 220 lbs as he also earned his second straight trip to the state tournament with a first place finish.
Logan Scheuermann defeated Tri-Center’s Jeremy Miller in the semifinal round by fall in the 1:39 mark and took the 145 lb crown with a 4-3 decision win in the championship match. Scheuermann will now enter the big dance with a record of 41-5.
For Cade Suhr, his first place finish came by a pair of falls as he was crowned district 7 champion in the 220 lb weight class. Suhr marches into the state tournament for the second straight season with a mark of 27-5.
Both Scheuermann and Suhr are now awarded a spot inside the coveted state tournament in Des Moines which takes place February 16th-18th.
