Earlier this week, students in an accelerated government class at Greene County High School donated goodie bags to each of the Jefferson Police officers and Greene County deputies.
Hannah Stein says as part of the class, students are required to do a fundraiser and they decided to do a fundraiser to help support local law enforcement.
“There has been a lot of violence and police brutality in the news, so we just figured this was a good way to show our appreciation to the people who work in our community to protect us.”
The goodie bags contain candies along with sayings for each one of the candies. Plus, each bag had gift cards to various businesses in Jefferson.
Hannah Promes describes what she learned through the experience.
“Just that there’s a lot of people out there who are willing to help when it’s something like this for your own community that’s greatly appreciated.”
Stein, Promes and Emily Heupel dropped off the bags to the law enforcement on Tuesday.
