After any successful wrestling season teams and individuals alike can look back to a few points throughout the season that really helped to propel them into their great season.
The same can be said for ADM’s 106 lb sophomore phenom Andrew Flora. After acquiring a great season where he ended 8th in the final class 2A 106 lb rankings Flora ended the year on the state tournament medal stand with a 4th place finish. The experienced sophomore ended his second season on the varsity level with a record of 49-7 and when he looks back at his 2016-17 campaign, as he told Raccoon Valley Radio, he attributes a lot of his success to all the work and camps attended in the offseason.
“I did a lot of lifting this offseason, just gaining a lot of weight helped a lot, being a little bit above the weight coming in cutting it and then muscle strength helped a lot this off season. This summer I went down to Wartburg, I went down to Grandview. The Wartburg camp helped a lot with technique and everything and getting me back in the flow of wrestling for the season. Great coaches up there as I enjoyed it and learned a lot. It showed me what I can do and what I can really accomplish this year and then at Grandview same thing,” stated Flora.
