DSCN5449The Jefferson Streets/Sewer/Sanitation/Water committee met Tuesday.

The committee approved a request from the Action Resource Center Coordinator Diane Blackmer to allow for temporary reserve parking in front of the food pantry once a week when they are open on Wednesdays. The committee also approved allowing Women Encouraging Women to set up a small free-standing box with free supplies for women at the fairgrounds.

Bolton & Menk then gave an update to the committee about the East Lincoln Way entry project. A stakeholder workshop is scheduled on March 8th at 10am, 2pm and 6pm at the Depot. Once they receive input from the stakeholders, then a public open house will be set for late March or early April. The project is to build a new entrance on the City’s east side.

The committee then decided to hold a public hearing at a future City Council meeting to seek input about closing the railroad crossing at Wilson Avenue. The City found out that it was going to be over $100,000 to install wayside horns at each of the remaining intersections.

The committee also decided to move the location for the annual hazardous waste drop-off event from the fairgrounds to the north side of the downtown square and wait until the 2019 fiscal year budget to start the funding process to eventually change all resident’s water meters.
