Today a unique skiing and snowboarding event is at the Midway Motel in Guthrie Center.

Organizer Matt Fronapple says the Midway Motel Rail Jam contest will feature skiers and snowboarders from across the state. A rail jam challenges riders to build up speed while approaching rails and other obstacles, sliding along them and performing tricks, before landing cleanly on the other side. He says the contest will be a new experience for many people in the area.

“It will be like nothing you have ever seen before. What some of these guys are able to do on a snowboard or set of skis.”

Registration opens at 10am and the contest will start at 2pm. There is a $10 entry fee that will be used as prize money for the winners.
