New Greene County head football coach Mitch Moore called Raccoon Valley Radio Tuesday afternoon to deliver the news himself that he’d been offered the position, which he accepted. Moore will become just the fourth head coach of the Jefferson-based high school program since 1977, following the late Bob Thompson, Bill Kibby, and Dean Lansman. Lansman stepped down earlier this year, but remains the Activities Director, head boys’ track and field coach, and a science teacher at the high school.

Moore is a Ballard (Huxley) High School graduate and former Iowa State University Director of High School Relations. Ballard and Greene County play in the same Class 3A district in football.

The Rams were 1-8 last fall and have not had a winning season in the five years playing as Greene County.
