When the dust settled on the final substate action for Iowa high school boys basketball teams earlier this week, the West Central Activities conference held one boys basketball representative to the big dance next week.

That representative would be the undisputed conference champion Van Meter who made their way through the regular season suffering just one loss. That lone set back on the season came against non conference opponent in Pella Christian, a team who will also be making their way to the Wells Fargo Arena next week.

As they did for most of the season, the Bulldogs retained the top honor in 3pt shooting efficiency within class 2A at a mark of 41.2% from the three point line. They made many teams pay from the free throw line connecting on class 2A’s second best mark of 72.4% from the charity stripe.

The Bulldogs will await their state tournament fate when the Iowa High School Athletic Union releases their final state tournament brackets after 1:00 pm this afternoon.
