The 2017 track season was kicked off on Tuesday for the ADM boys track team as they hit the road to partake in their first meet of the season at Wartburg College in Waverly.

Jacob West continued where he left off last season as the returning state qualifier paced ADM on Tuesday earning a tie for second place in the high jump with West Des Moines Valley’s Tariq Brown both with a jump height of 6′-01″. Both were topped only by Marion’s Blair Brooks with a jump height of 6′-06.50″.

Other notable performances included Reece McLaughlin placing 24th in the long jump with a distance of 18-10.50. Mason Warmuth earned a top 30 finish in the shot put hurling his way into 26th place with a toss of 38-06 while Cody Bargman was right behind him with a toss of 32′-04″ placing him 39th overall.

In the 200 meter dash finals, ADM had two inside the top fifty as Brett Duroe placed 42nd with a time of 26.80 seconds while Kade Barcus’s time of 25.47 seconds earned him a 30th place finish.

ADM’s 4 x 200 meter relay team of Kade Barcus, David Howard, Austin Flora, and Jacob West came away with a top ten finish with a time of 1:39.43 seconds placing them in tenth place.

The Tiger track team will pick back up with action on Tuesday when they make their way onto the campus of the University Of Northern Iowa for the Dickinson Relay’s which begins at 3:00 pm
