It was the start of the 2017 season for the ACGC Lady Charger track and field team last night as they participated in the unique Iowa State High School Classic inside the Leid Recreation center in Ames.

Coach Dave Spratte and his Lady Charge team partook in this unique meet with just one class and no team scoring. The long jump kicked things off followed by the high jump, shot put, and 60 meter hurdles. Other events included the 60 meter dash, 3,000 meter run, 4 x 800 meter relay, sprint medley relay, 800 meter run, 1,500 meter run, and the 4 x 400 meter relay.

Olivia Laabs paced the Lady Chargers in the 60 meter dash placing 48th with her time of 8.90 seconds. She was followed by freshman Regan Rumelhart who placed in 63rd with a time of 8.98 seconds. Emma Swanson had a solid finish for ACGC as the sophomore placed 27th in the 800 meter run notching a time of 2:43.90. Swanson was followed by freshman Keely Vasey taking 65th place with a time of 3:02.92.

Kate Crawford took the cake for best finish on the night for the Lady Chargers notching a 7th place finish in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:13.99. She was followed by Lauryn Embleton who’s time of 5:44.49 put her in 33rd place overall. Emma Swanson one upped her 800 meter performance by taking 19th overall in the 3,000 meter run notching a time of 12:00.23

Maddy Smith and Rachel Rumelhart was a solid pair in the 60 meter hurdles placing 14th and 16th respectively, less than one second from each other.

ACGC’s 4 x 400 meter relay team picked up a 17th place finish with a time of 4:31.95 while the 4 x 800 relay team picked up an 18th place finish with a time of 11:08.63.  ACGC’s time of 2:02.72 put the Lady Chargers in 22nd place in the 800 Sprint Medley Relay. Sara Schmelling took the top spot for the Lady Chargers in the long jump placing 23rd which was followed up by Savana Fuller’s 40th place finish. Madison McDermott earned a solid 37th place finish in the shot put tossing a distance of 29-02.75.

The next event on the docket for the Lady Chargers will be on March 27th in Jefferson taking on Greene County.
