Normally, a 12-11 record in high school basketball isn’t something that stands out as phenomenal or fantastic in the stat line, but for ADM Tiger boys basketball this season, there was a whole lot more behind the record than just the numbers.

That 12-11 record ensured a second straight winning season in five years and ADM’s first postseason victory in six years. ADM’s twelve wins in this season alone matched the win total for the three year period between the 2012-13 season and the 2014-15 season. Perhaps the biggest thing that ADM’s 12-11 record showcased wasn’t actually something that showed in the stat sheets but instead showed in the form of progress.

The progress ADM has sustained over the past two years has not only included a playoff win but a co-conference championship as well. That progress was something that really stood out to ADM activities director Reece Satre in speaking with Raccoon Valley Radio.

“It’s been kind of interesting to sit back and watch how the boys program has grown and just seeing where Aaron (Mager) and his staff has taken that group. To take that group from quite frankly we were not in good shape three years ago to developing not just at the varsity level but we talked a lot about developing depth. And depth comes with an increase in participation numbers, getting them involved, keeping them engaged as we go into practices, giving them chances to play in games so that your constantly stoking that fire to where they want to come and practice hard. He (coach Mager) had a pretty senior laden roster which usually indicates pretty good health of your program because that means those juniors are chomping at the bit because they want that varsity time,” explained Reece.

We’ll have more about Reece’s thoughts on ADM Boys basketball progression in future sports pages.
