Several Greene County area students earned high marks this past Saturday at the Iowa High School Speech Association State Individual contest.
Greene County High School sent six students that competed in nine events. Those students who earned a division I-rating include Michael Kennedy and Arthur Bardole in musical theater, Natalie Payan in poetry, Bardole in storytelling and Regan Lamoureux in expository address. Students receiving a division II-rating were Emily Heupel in prose, Kennedy in storytelling, Payan in acting and Jack Schilling in poetry.
Paton-Churdan had three students qualify four events for state. Those students earning a division I-rating included Megan Carey in acting and Autumn Gannon in original oratory. Events that received a II-rating included Gannon in storytelling and Briana Jewett in poetry.
Unfortunately no students were nominated for the all-state festival that takes place on March 27th at the University of Northern Iowa.
