A reminder that the second half of property taxes are due by the end of March.

The Greene County Treasurer’s office says property owners must pay their second half of their property taxes by March 31st to avoid a one and a half percent per month penalty.

Most homeowners have escrow accounts through their lender, which automatically pays the property taxes in March and the first half in September. However, if a homeowner doesn’t have an escrow account, they can pay at their respective county treasurer’s office or online at the state treasurer’s website at iowatreasurers.org.

For those that can’t pay the full amount for their second half of property taxes, the Greene County Treasurer’s office will accept partial payments.
