Greene County Supervisors 3_13The Greene County Board of Supervisors recently approved the 2018 fiscal year budget.

The combined tax levy will see a one-cent increase to $8.85 per $1,000 valuation at the start of the next fiscal year on July 1st. It is a combination of the rural and county-wide tax levies. The rural tax levy will increase by four cents from the current fiscal year to $3.20 and the county-wide tax levy will drop by three cents to $5.65.

Board Chair John Muir says the overall budget process went well. They had to make some tough decisions, especially regarding the Sheriff’s budget. But Muir believes the Supervisors were good stewards of the county taxpayer’s money and only increased  the combined tax levy by one-cent in the past three years.

The Supervisors budget had to be submitted to the state by March 15th.
