Registrations are going on now for the new Scrabble 5K run/walk during the main event in April for Greene County Relay for Life.
This year’s theme is “Relay for Life is a Game Changer.” Participants will go to different booths along the race route and collect letter tiles. Once the race is finished, the participants that spell the most words will win prizes. Committee member Emily Neese says there are a variety of prizes available.
“We’ve got some cool Relay for Life things, whether it be like a pocket to put on the back of your cell phone case for your ID (and) water bottles. The big prize we got is a stay-and-play package from Wild Rose Casino for the most words. Just like from little things to big things, maybe some lawn chairs, things like that.”
The race route has been changed as well, so participants don’t have to go through as many congested areas in Jefferson.
Registration fees are $20 for those 13 and older and $10 for those 12 and younger by April 14th. It is then $25 for those 13 and older and $15 for those 12 and younger after April 14th. The first 250 registrations will receive a commemorative bandana and relay bracelet, along with a complimentary meal.
