national weather serviceWith the spring season here in Iowa, the National Weather Service will be conducting a statewide tornado drill next week.

The test will take place on Wednesday, March 29th starting at 10am when the National Weather Service issues a test tornado watch. Then at 10:30, a test tornado warning will be issued to all Iowa counties. The Raccoon Valley Radio Severe Weather Action Team will be taking to the airwaves during drill to provide live coverage as if we were in a severe weather warning situation. It is also a chance for schools and businesses to go through their tornado protection plans.

The test tornado watch will then expire at 11am. In the event that there is actual severe weather on Wednesday, the test will be moved to Thursday or Friday.
