dallas county proposed law enforcement centerThe Dallas County Sheriff’s office will hold a town hall meeting tonight at the Perry Public Library to discuss the upcoming vote for the construction of a new and larger jail in Dallas County. Sheriff Chad Leonard along with architects on the project will go over the plan with residents and answer any questions the public might have.

Perry City Administrator Sven Peterson says there are plenty of benefits for attending tonight’s town hall.

“It’s going to be a great way to learn about the project. The Sheriff keeps hitting on the fact that when they host these meetings, he is surprised by how many people don’t know what’s going on or what the project is about. This really affects everyone in Dallas County and it’s important for the cities to recognize that we will utilize this proposed new jail as much as the county because we send our prisoners there to stay. This is very important for our growing county.”

The meeting will start at 6:30 tonight.
