After a successful indoor track season it’s time for the Lady Tiger track and field team to make their way outdoors to begin the outdoor portion of their 2017 campaign.

It’s always nice to have a solid start to the outdoor season and for ADM in recent history, they have enjoyed more than their fair share of success starting off the season at the annual Cardinal Early Bird meet in Earlham. Coach Bart Mueller is looking for another phenomenal performance this year after acquiring 25 top ten finishes, 16 top five finishes, 6 first place finishes, all the while setting five records for the Early Bird meet last year.

Senior star Sydney Bertman will be back to reclaim her first place performance last season in the long jump event after notching 16-04.00. An event oddly enough, where she stole the meet record away from then Earlham’s Keaton Kester who is now running for ADM. The Lady Tigers return two out of the four runners from last year’s 4 x 800 meter relay team who took hold of the Earlham stadium record and look to retain that record of 10:14.16.

Earlham transfer Keaton Kester aims to become the reigning three year meet and stadium leader in the 100 meter dash at the Cardinal Early Bird meet now in a Lady Tiger uniform. Kester is also the Cardinal Early Bird reigning champion in the 200 meter dash and owner of the events meet record of 26.66 seconds. Three of the members from ADM’s 4 x 200 meter relay team from last season at Earlham come back to reclaim the meet record they set a year prior with a time of 1:57.76

The 2017 version of the Cardinal Early Bird meet will yield a total of nine teams including West Central Valley, Van Meter, Saydel, Panorama, Iowa Christian Academy, Grandview Park Baptist, Colo-NESCO, host Earlham, and ADM. The meet will commence from Earlham beginning at 4:45 pm.
