Today is the big day for the Panorama Panther track and field teams as they kick off their 2017 season in Earlham against an 8 team field in the Cardinal Early Bird Meet.
The successful history surrounding Panorama track and field has always had a fast start and recent history has shown similar results for the Panthers. The Cardinal Early Bird meet has often been the great start to the season and you only have to go back to last season to view the success for both Panther squads.
The Lady Panthers aim to continue their dominance in Earlham coming off of last year’s meet where Panorama walked away with 27 top ten finishes, of those twenty-seven 20 were of the top 5 variety and of those 20, there were five first place winners. The Lady Panthers will also be looking to keep themselves at the top of the Cardinal Early Bird meet record books after breaking their own meet record times in the 4 x 100 and the 4 x 400 meter relays, both of which were set the year prior in 2015.
The Panther boys are looking to recreate similar success after walking away from last year’s Early Bird meet with 17 top ten finishes, 11 top 5 finishes, 3 first place finishes all while recording 2 meet records. One of those meet records belongs to returning varsity letter winner Matt Webner who looks to keep himself perched atop the Early Bird meet record books as well.
The commencement for another great start to the track season begins today in Earlham and will kick off at 4:30 pm.
