Today marks exactly one week away from the official start of the 2017 season for the ADM girls soccer team.

Come April 6th, the Lady Tigers initiate their journey to make it back to the hallowed grounds of the Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines, and it all starts off against fellow conference Tiger team Carroll. The Lady Tigers come off a stellar season but unfortunately could not snag a second win away from Bishop Heelan and it has been a driving force for both head coach Kelsey Gaffney and her team ever since.

As the Lady Tigers continue to strive for greatness, as coach Gaffney told Raccoon Valley Radio, they’re not comfortable with making it to the state tournament, their main focus now is to win it.

“We not only want to just show up but actually win. That’s one of the biggest goals for us, yeah we’ve made it to state as a program but we’ve actually never won at state so that’s going to be a big goal for us not only getting there but winning a game too and having a good showing,” stated coach Gaffney.

In order to accomplish that goal coach Gaffney spoke with  Raccoon Valley Radio on the aspects she wants her team to improve on the most.

“I’d just say working as a team both offensively and defensively. One of the biggest things we’re working on is the off ball movement as a team and connecting our passes. It’s the one thing I’ve been stressing (the most) and we’ll continue to work on that,” explained coach Gaffney.

The road back to the big dance starts on April 6th with their season and home opener against Carroll beginning at 7:00 pm.
