Even though the team score wasn’t where the Jayettes wanted it to in the end, there were plenty of positives to take away from last night’s running of the Davis Relays for the Perry Girls Track team.  The biggest positive from the night might have been the success of first year runners Rachel Kinney and Haley Vaughn.  Kinney has been a softball star for Perry the past few seasons while Vaughn has been a dominant force for the Perry swim team and head coach Jean Dowd the past 4 years.  Both had strong starts in their first outdoor competition.  Kinney placed 5th in the 100 and 6th in the 200 meter dash.  Vaughn led Perry in the 400 clocking in at 1:07.91 to place 4th.  Returning state qualifier Emma Olejniczak took 5th in the 400 and was part of the first place 4×800 meter relay team.  Sidney Vancil placed 2nd in the 800 in a time of 2:36 while Grace Stewart finished 3rd in the 1500 with a time of 10:46.11.  AC-GC won the meet with 132 points followed by Winterset’s 129.  Perry finished 6th with 46 points.  Complete and official results are posted below on the link.  Simply click on link to reveal.
