Perry senior Alvaro Soto signed a national letter of intent to play soccer next year at Grandview University. Soto signed the letter in front of his parents, brother, high school Coach Gary Overla and a representative from Grandview. The Brady Library will filled with friends and students who wanted to show their support.
“I just can’t thank the Bluejay community enough,” smiled Soto. “It has been a wonderful 4 years and I have been lucky to have so much support through the years.”
Soto credited his parents and brother Daniel for instilling the love of soccer at an early age. He also thanked his club coach and current Hy-Vee meat manager Jeremy Crawford for all of his support through the years.
“Mr. Crawford has been a like a second father to me through the years. He was always there to help me with the club game and I learned a lot from him. He was also there for my family when our house burnt down. I owe a lot to him.”
Soto told Raccoon Valley Radio News that he is excited for his senior season and one final chance to play for Coach Overla.
“Coach has great to me through the years. We have been to two state tournaments and we are really hungry to get back this year after a tough loss last season. However, we know we have to take it one game at a time and not look to far ahead.”
Supporters of Soto will certainly be looking ahead as he continues his career next year at Grandview
