Perry placed 3rd out of 4 teams Thursday night with the running of the Cavanaugh Relays in Woodward. Sidney Vancil, Haley Vaughn and Breanna Penenger were the top point getters for the Jayettes securing 15 team points. Rylynn Gilmore added 14 in the field events. Head Coach Matt Hardy had these observations following the meet.
“The 4×800 and 4×400 relays were exciting races. Emma Olejniczak (4×800) and Sidney Vancil (4×400) ran very strong anchor legs to secure victories right at the finish line. Emma took us from 2nd to 1st. Sidney to us from 3rd to 1st.
It was nice to have Breanna Penenger back in the line-up. (She took some time off from track to focus on her lead role in Peter Pan) Breanna won the 400 hurdles. (Also ran on the 4×800 and 4×400)
Haley Vaughn continues to have early season success winning the 400. (Also ran on the 4×800 and 4×400)
Damaris Robles had a great carry in the Distance Medley positioning Jaky Castenada to anchor to a 1st place finish
Rachel Kinney has been a nice addition to the team and continues to improve in her sprint events.
Sidney Vancil looked dominate in the 800. (Also had great opening carry in the 4×800.)
Field event scoring played a large role in our success last night. Rylynn Gilmore, Zoe Gordon, and Sophie Prombo all place top-3 in their events.
Grace Stewart did not compete due to injury. Both Grace and Emma Olejniczak are questionable for Monday’s meet at Carroll.”
