Greene County residents pulled together last weekend to help fellow cattle producers in the southern part of the country.

A fundraiser was held last weekend at the community center in Paton. Co-organizer Kyle Niles tells Raccoon Valley Radio that they raised over $6,300. The Greene County Cattlemen Association, along with the Greene County Lamb and Pork producers did the grilling and they even received food item donations from Hy-Vee and Fareway. Niles adds that she was overwhelmed with the amount of donations that came in from across the country. Sheilah Heavenstreet also helped coordinate the effort.

The money that was raised will help those in Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and Colorado that lost livestock in the wildfires.
