Picking up right where they left off last season, the Panorama Panther boys golf team opened up their 2017 campaign on a strong note taking on an 8 team field at the Crestwood Golf Course in Anita Saturday.

It was a true team effort as the Panthers pulled together to take the top spot with a team score of 302 followed by Exira-Elk-Horn-Kimbalton in second place, Audubon in 3rd, host CAM in 4th, Bedford in 5th, West Central Valley earned 6th, with Southwest Valley taking 7th and East Mills rounding it out in 8th.

Two Panthers earned sub par rounds through the 18 hole weekend meet. Kolby Shackelford proved that age is just a number as the talented freshmen was the top individual medalist on the day and paced the Panthers with a phenomenal 68 through 18 holes. Right behind him was multi-year state wrestling qualifier George Appelseth who opened up his senior golf season earning runner up medalist with an 18 hole score of 70. Will Babcock ended the day shooting slightly over par with 76 while Trey Cobb, Mitch Wagler, and Dylan Douglass rounded out the Panther scoring shooting 88, 90, and 95 respectively.

Head coach Hal Rossow and his Panther squad won’t have much time to rest as they are back at it again today with their home opener in a triangular with ACGC and Woodward-Granger. Today’s meet from Lake Panorama Golf Course will begin with first tee off at 4:00 pm.

Also in action will be the Lady Panther golf team as they swap venues heading to Woodward to battle it out with the same cast of characters, ACGC and Woodard-Granger beginning at 4:00 pm.
