Some of the best weather of the track & field season greeted competitors and fans alike on Tuesday at Carroll Athletic Field for the Carroll Coed Invitational. Sunshine, light winds, and temperatures in the upper 50s were present at the start.
Carroll won the girls’ team title with 152 points. IKM-Manning scored 111 with Greene County third at 100, followed by MVAO (Maple Valley) 86, Woodward-Granger 66, and 48 for Perry.
IKM-Manning and Carroll tied for the boys’ title with 126 points. MVAO and Perry both had 89 points with 83 from W-G, and the Rams at 68.
Greene County was first in the girls’ sprint medley relay in 1:59.63 with Megan Doran, Laurin Lyons, Melanie Doran, and Olivia Hansen. Haley Hall was first in the 3,000 meter run in 12:22.25, and Megan Durbin won the high jump at 5′ 3″. The Rams won the girls’ 4 x 200 relay in 1:53.62 with Tieryn Tucker, Melanie Durbin, Hansen, and Durbin, and they took first in the 4 x 100 meter relay in :53.82 with the Doran sisters, Hansen, and Durbin. Janelle Brophy jumped 15′ 4-3/4″ to win the long jump and Kenna Marquardt won the discus throw at 101′ 4″.
The Rams did not win any boys’ events, but they did finish second three times.
Greene County’s girls are scheduled for the Perry meet tomorrow and the Greene County boys are scheduled to go to Des Moines for the Saydel Invitational Thursday.
