Greene County Development Corporation met in regular session Tuesday.
During the reports, Greene County Medical Center CEO Carl Behne gave an update about trying to get caught up with receiving payments from the managed care organizations. He also mentioned that a new provider will start with UnityPoint in June.
Greene County Schools Superintendent Tim Christensen said demolition of part of the west side of the elementary school is finishing up this week, with footings to be set next week for the new addition. He also mentioned that the Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency accepted the design concept for the third-story of their building to be turned into liveable apartments for $25,000. The student construction class will help with the project starting next school year.
Community Development Director Ken Paxton then gave an update. He said a steering committee is being formed for the Vision 20/20 project with about 30 people. From that committee an executive committee will be formed. Then as projects come up, a sub-committee will be formed from the steering committee as needed.
Finally, Paxton said there are seven businesses interested in locating in Greene County. Three are local and four are not. Some of the businesses include a childcare facility, two manufacturers and two retailers looking to be on the downtown square in Jefferson.
