A fire in a barrell went out of control yesterday, eventually costing one local farmer his machine shed.
According to Perry Fire Chief Chris Hinds, just before 6 p.m. Thursday, an out-of-control fire was reported in the 12700 block of I Avenue northwest of Perry. Hinds said the fire started when the landowner was burning seed sacks inside a barrel. He was in the midst of planting, so he left the barrel unattended until a neighbor saw the grass around it catching fire.
The fire soon spread out of control, and eventually it had engulfed a nearby machine shed. There were no injuries from the incident.
The Perry Fire Department, Perry First Responders, and Dallas County Emergency Medical Services responded to the fire.
