In the meet that brought all conference teams together, both ACGC track and field teams converged on Madrid for the West Central Activities Conference meet yesterday.
The Lady Chargers would supply a 3rd place finish on the meet topping out with 96 points while the boys ran away with 52 team points putting them squarely in 6th place.
Once again what stole the show for the Lady Chargers were the distance events highlighted by Lauryn Embelton, Kate Crawford, and Emma Swanson. Embelton clocked in with 11:27.50 first place finish in the 3000 followed by Swanson in third while a similar situation played out in the 1500 with Kate Crawford running away with first at a time of 5:11.35 with Embelton in third at 5:21.23. Crawford would end up just shy of first in the 800 clocking in second with 2:27.83. The distance success was handed off nicely in the relay events with the Distance Medley team of Smith, Schmeling, Laabs, and Crawford stealing first with 4:29.81.
Olivia Laabs narrowly missed out on her fourth straight first place finish in the 400 hurdles taking second place with 1:09.39
The Charger boys put on a nice meet and through a heated field came away with a sixth place finish and 52 team points. Logan Scheuermann would take home yet another top three finish in the 800 with a time of 2:08.01. Cale Billheimer would provide a similar outcome in the 3200 with a third place time of 10:30.99. Caden Wardyn would highlight the field events taking third in the long jump at a distance of 19′-02.25″.
The not so distance future for both teams includes a Thursday meet in Panora beginning at 4:30 pm.
