It’s a class 2A top 15 showdown in boys soccer action tonight as the 8th ranked ADM Tigers hit the road to square off against the 12th ranked Winterset Huskies in Earlham.

Both teams are playing very well as of late with Winterset having rattled off 7 straight wins entering tonight while the Tigers have one upped that with 8 consecutive victories entering tonight’s contest. Winterset comes in as the Raccoon River Conference’s biggest scoring threat with 42 made goals this season. Meanwhile ADM comes in as more of a balanced team having defeated 4 top sixteen ranked opponents.

In matching up with Winterset this evening, ADM will certainly have to play their A game and rely upon great ball possession which head coach Bill Shields credits as the teams biggest strength.

“That’s pretty much been the key to our success so far. We dominate possession and that comes from the midfield players and our game is built on that,” stated coach Shields.

Against a team like Winterset, coach Shields has put an extra special importance on owning the midfield.

“I think against Winterset you’ll see a really good midfield battle and we’ll just take it from there as far as that’s concerned. It will be important that we do dominate that area of the field,” explained coach Shields.

History has favored ADM in the past with a 4-2 record against the Huskies while outscoring Winterset 20-8  in the past six seasons. The match up in Earlham tonight begins at 7:00 pm.
