A third road project in Jefferson is currently underway by Highway 30.
Kingston Services is replacing the paved road on Mulberry Street, west of Sparky’s One Stop, as the final phase of several other projects. In March, the contractor repaired several curb and gutter areas around Hy-Vee and replaced the alley behind the Sierra Community Theater. City Administrator Mike Palmer says the contractor is pushing to get the final project done quickly.

“This was Kingston’s first job of the year and if anybody was uptown to see them do their work along the alley, there was probably 20-25 guys there that did that job. So they want to get these jobs out of the way so they can get on to the rest of their season.”
The Mulberry Street project is anticipated to be completed by the end of the month, pending any weather delays. Traffic can enter from the east side of the frontage road for the duration of the project.
The three projects totaled $235,000, which the City Council approved last September.
