A run-away tractor caused damage to the Grand Junction Library.
Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams says about 7pm Friday, 40 year-old Johnathan Laue of Grand Junction was trying to start his tractor at a nearby auto body shop. As the tractor started, Laue didn’t realize it was in gear and before he could stop it, the tractor hit a tree on the north side of the library and it had enough momentum to strike the northwest corner of the building. The tractor pushed the corner of the building in about six-inches and there was minor damage to the sheetrock interior wall. Only minor damage was done to the tractor.

Williams says no one was hurt in the incident and because Laue wasn’t actually driving the tractor, the Sheriff’s office didn’t issue any citations. However, Williams notes that Laue’s insurance will pay the damages to the library.
The library can still be used by the public. No cost estimate for the damages is known at this time.
The Sheriff’s office investigated the accident.
