After witnessing the Tiger boys golf team take the conference crown yesterday, both Tiger boys and girls soccer squads are itching to do the same in a pair of conference title showdowns with the Perry Jays and Jayetts.

For head coach Bill Shields and his Tiger boys soccer team, they will have the luxury of home field advantage when they engage in their championship match with Perry. The scenario set across the conference landscape looks like an outright conference title for Perry should the Jays win or a potential three way tie between Winterset-Perry-ADM should the Tigers pull off the victory.

ADM will have to muster their A game for sure if they want to defeat a Perry squad who has had the Tigers number over the past six seasons. Perry has boasted a 5-1 record against the Tigers accounting for 11 goals against ADM compared to the Tiger’s 4 goals against the Jays.

In order to bring that A game, the Tigers will have to repeat what they’ve been doing most of the season which junior Davis Barton describes as good balance and ball handling.

“Defensively we pass the ball very well in the back and that helps out offense because we can possess the ball more than the other team. Possession really helps us score and without possession if you don’t have the ball you can’t really score so possession really helps,” explained Barton.

Barton and the rest of the 10th ranked Tiger squad engages in their conference championship bout against Perry this evening beginning at 7:00 pm from Tiger Stadium.
