guthrie county sheriffA roadside accident near Yale Sunday night resulted in one injury.

According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s office, 38-year old Curtis Moorhead, of  Jamaica, was struck by a passing vehicle as he fueled his Jeep by the roadside around 9:30 p.m.

Moorhead ran out of gas at 160th and Wink Avenue east of Yale and was putting more in when he was struck by a Dodge Journey Minivan. Chief Deputy Sheriff Jeremy Bennett says the incident remains under technical investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.

“The victim was transported to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines by air ambulance and as of Monday night, he was still in the ICU.”

While deputies were securing the scene a pickup truck sped past emergency vehicles and through the accident scene. Bennett pursued the driver, who was apprehended and charged with a felony for their third OWI.
