The DAISY Award has been awarded to Surgical Nurse Doris Terwilliger of Guthrie County Hospital.
Loreen Andreasen, Merlin Long, Stacy Mahedy, Theresa Schiller and Terwilliger were all nominated for the award in letters written by patients, friends and colleagues. The award is given to registered nurses who exemplify extraordinary nursing. Chief of Nursing Greg Opseth told the nurses assembled Thursday for the ceremony about the work and character of Terwilliger.
“ The skill and compassion of Doris are a credit to this hospital. If you one day decide to retire the impression you have made here will still be deeply felt.”
This was the first DAISY Award presentation at Guthrie County Hospital, it will be given out annually from now on according to Opseth.
