Wednesday evening, Woodward-Granger senior Paige Mescher was awarded one of Raccoon Valley Radio’s $250 Business and Broadcasting scholarships.
Mescher, who plans on studying business management at Iowa State University, was exactly the type of student Raccoon Valley Radio General Manager John McGee was looking for when deciding who to award the scholarship to. “I really liked they way that she’s overcome some adversity throughout her high school years, as well as showing some leadership that way. And we wish her the best of luck as she continues on at Iowa State.”
Every year, Raccoon Valley Radio gives out two $250 scholarships to two area seniors going into either business or broadcasting at a two or four-year college or university. McGee adds, “It’s our way as a company to give back to the community that’s given us so much, as well as hopefully get these kids on a good start to further their education either in business or in broadcasting.”
The scholarships are made possible by the businesses that are involved with the station’s Senior Salute program.
