We are coming up on the final school days for both Greene County and Paton-Churdan.
Greene County’s final school day is this Friday with a 11:45am dismissal. High School Principal Brian Phillips tells Raccoon Valley Radio his impression of the entire school year.
“I think this year’s been really good. Of course at any high school, you’re going to have bumps down the road, but overall, we’ve just had an excellent, excellent school year. I’m really proud of the kids and very proud of the staff that come to work everyday to change the lives of kids. I can’t say enough about the people that I work with.”
Phillips points out advisory time as a positive experience that he’s seen this school year.
“One of the things that we do is a safe school survey and we were up almost at 90-percent of students saying that they have at least one person that they can talk to in the building about any of the concerns that they bring with them through the front door. So we’re really trying to establish rapport with the kids.”
The last day is also highlighted by the middle school band performing around the square in Jefferson Friday morning.
As for Paton-Churdan, their final day is tomorrow with a 2pm dismissal.
