More details have been released about the injury of 38-year old Curtis Moorhead, of Jamaica, who was struck by a passing vehicle as he fueled his Jeep by the roadside east of Yale around 9:30 p.m. May 7.
Moorhead ran out of gas at 160th and Wink Avenue east of Yale and was putting more in when he was struck by a Dodge Journey Minivan, driven by Misty Mast. According to a report released by the Iowa State Patrol Mast was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, but has not confirmed if she was above the legal limit. Mast also had three passengers aged six, four and one.
Moorhead was transported to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines by air ambulance and and was admitted to the ICU, but has since recovered.
The incident remains under technical investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
