The Guthrie County Community Foundation held their annual check presentation on Thursday, May 11th, in the boardroom at Guthrie Center City Hall. The funds distributed are generated from gaming revenue in Greene County and revenues from all other Iowa casinos.
Receiving funds from Grow Greene County were the Guthrie County Fair Foundation, $10,693, for updates to the sound system, small animal cages, pressure washer, exhibit tables, and picnic tables, Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Southwest Iowa, $1,607, for improvements to their driveway, ball field, and a convection oven, Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity, $7,000, for repair of four homes in Guthrie County, Prairie Woodland Conservation Foundation, $10,500, for paving of three secondary road crossings between Yale and highway 141 on the Raccoon River Valley Trail, Guthrie County Historical Society, $8,890.47, for a new roof on the Marchant House, and Tori’s Angels Foundation, $3,440, for purchase of popcorn machine, slushy dispenser, and condiment warmer.
Organizations receiving funds from the Guthrie County Community Foundation were the Guthrie County Hospital, $63,492, for their generator project, Panora Emergency Management Services, $5,700, for a mechanical CPR machine, Casey Library Betterment Association, $7,050, for new awnings and furniture, Stuart Fire Department, $3,900, for gear upgrades, City of Guthrie Center, $942, for a historic photo display, Guthrie Activity Center, $2,740, for the purchase of a router, radio, cameras, and smart switch, City of Menlo, $1,566, for picnic tables and folding chairs, Little Panther Daycare & Preschool, $1,170, for a computer, tablets, and a camera, Casey-Walnut-Thompson Fire Department, $14,250, for a grass fire truck chassis, Guthrie County Fair Foundation, $1,607, for updates to the sound system, small animal cages, pressure washer, exhibit tables, and picnic tables, Stuart Enterprise for Economic Development, $1,538, for an entrepreneurship encouragement program, Mary J Barnett Memorial Library, $1,850, for a computer server, Stuart Public Library Foundation, $2,700, for a reading and math skills program, Whiterock Conservancy, $4,500, for a Working Lands Education project, Casey Historical Society, $1,730, for seating at the visitor’s center, and the Stuart Chamber of Commerce, $3,817, for decorative banners.
