The ACGC softball team was in action Tuesday night with a home contest against West Marshall.

The Lady Chargers put up a valiant effort but could not handle the West Marshall offensive attack falling 11-3 in seven innings. It was a rather inauspicious start for coach Tim O’Brien’s squad as the Lady Trojans put up four runs in the top of the first for the early lead. West Marshall would tack on one more run in the 3rd before ACGC would strike the scoreboard for the first time thanks to a 2 run single by Sierra O’Brien.

The 5-2 score would hold for just one inning as West Marshall broke the game wide open with a 4 run fifth inning and after the Lady Chargers picked up one run in the bottom half, the score stood 9-3 heading into the final two innings. The Lady Trojans kept ACGC scoreless in the final two frames while picking up two runs themselves to increase the lead and win by the score of 11-3. West Marshall’s Kallie Malloy stifled the ACGC line up to the tune of just four hits, one earned run, while fanning 14 batters in the process.

The offensive leader for ACGC came in the form of Sierra O’Brien going 1-3 and picking up the only two RBI’s for the Lady Chargers on the night. Next up on the docket for ACGC brings a road contest with a varsity double header contest against Madrid this afternoon. First pitch will start off game one at 5:30 pm. Also in action with a double header of their own will be the ACGC Charger baseball team taking on Madrid as well beginning at 5:30 pm.
